For today’s Judge Judy post, I’m gonna be reviewing the Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro Liquid Lipstick. This lipstick is an Allure Best of Beauty 2016 Award winner for “Best Liquid Lipstick”, so I am pretty excited to be trying it out for the first time, in 2017. 1. Ps: Let's Talk About The Shimmery Nude Color. Mariah Carey For Macbook

38.00 USD for 0.22 oz. Velvet-matte, high pigment liquid lipstick. Creamy formula with a non-sticky soft texture.

A single swipe is enough to create definition. Offers 8 hour wear Described as “The Red”, this is how the shade 400 looks on me: Review: Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in 400: The iconic shade 400 is said to be Giorgio Armani’s signature color. It was created to be a universal red that is suitable for all skin tones. The tea is that 95 shades have actually been rejected before “The Red” (shade 400)was born. Looking at the tube itself, 400 appears to be a deep, and kind of a neutral shade of red. On the lips it surprisingly appears that way too. It is not a bright warm red or a cool blue-toned red and neither does it have any orange or pink undertone to it.

I would position its depth of red to be right between a scarlet and a ruby, and I believe what makes this red universally flattering is the neutral tone. So color wise, I give this red an A+. Consistency wise, I would agree a hundred percent with the description of it being a creamy, non-sticky formula. Its creaminess reminds me a lot of the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. In fact, I felt the Armani Lip Maestroto be slightly more lightweight and comfortable on the lips.

Once it dries down, it is not tacky and does reveal a soft texture. As to its hue and intensity, shade 400 is definitely a pigmented one. One swipe is all you need to cover your entire lips with full opacity.

However, the Armani Lip Maestro does not dry down to a full matte. It claims to dry down to a velvet matte, but I compared this with a few other liquid lipsticks with a creamy consistency and a supposed velvet-matte finish ( Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint, BareMinerals GEN NUDE Matte Liquid Lipcolor) and the Armani Lip Maestro does not dry as matte as the rest. In fact, there is a slight sheen to it, almost like a satin-matte finish, reflective of some sort of moisture still lingering on the lips even after five minutes.

Since I wanted a more matte finish, I gently pursed my lips once on a facial tissue to get rid of that sheen to achieve the velvet-matte finish above. While this doesn’t truly bother me, I would understand why some would be frustrated spending almost forty bucks on a liquid lipstick and having to remove part of it to achieve a matte finish. Did this liquid lipstick last me 8 hours as claimed? Prior to me having a soup-based dinner, the lipstick held on quite well for 5 hours.

After dinner though coverage on the center of the lips faded, and what’s really left is a dark red lip line and basically a light pinkish stain on the lips itself. So this product does require touch-ups after a meal. I’m not too sure though if this is due to its lighter consistency or the fact that I did remove the top coat when I dabbed my lips with tissue to achieve the matte effect earlier. But whatever it is, the hassle that I needed to go through to achieve the finish I prefer (considering that I do not have to do this for many other more affordable liquid lipsticks I own) and the product’s inability to last through a meal (again, in comparison to other more affordable products I have tried) renders it not quite worth the expenditure. For me this product wins in terms of its spot-on perfect shade of red that I’ve been searching for as well as how comfortable and lightweight it feels on the lips, but due to the fact that I actually have to do a little more to make the finish work for me, and possibly then reducing its longevity brings down its rating a little. So, my final thoughts – Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro 400 is worth a try if you have not found your perfect red, and if you are looking for a lightweight and comfortable not-too-matte liquid lipstick.

VERDICT: Recommended. In my previous Judge Judy post, I reviewed the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in the shade Stripped. I mentioned in the post that Stripped was a lighter and more peach-based nude as compared to another brown-based nude lip color I truly enjoyed.

That’s when some of my friends asked me about that other lipstick I was talking about. So, I am going to give my full review on the Makeup Geek Plush Lip Creme in the shade Jetsetter. (Image source: ) Makeup Geek Plush Lip Creme in Jetsetter:. 14.00 USD for 0.10 fl oz. A hybrid of cream and mousse to give the lips a soft, “plush” feel. Highly pigmented shades in a smooth creme finish Described as a soft peach brown with a creme finish, this is how the shade Jetsetter looks on me: Review: Makeup Geek Plush Lip Creme in Jetsetter: I believe that I own and have tried a lot of lipsticks that are a variant of this particular shade. Of the top of my head, Bite Beauty’s Honeycomb is pretty similar, NYX’s Sable is up there and I am dead sure something from MAC looks alike (MAC Self-Aware probably?).

But Makeup Geek’s Jetsetter has always stood out for me, and I do reach for it more often than any of the aforementioned products. Its pull factor in my opinion lies in its ultra-comfortable formula that’s accompanied by high pigmentation and opacity. Despite Jetsetter being the lightest color in the range, it was such a breeze to apply.

With just one dip from the tube, my entire lips are decently coated with no visible streaks or patchiness. A second dip would seal the deal with a hundred and ten percent opacity, so hooray for the pigmentation. I am also impressed at how the shade has been aptly described.

It was indeed a soft peach brown on me, spot on! As for the hybrid cream-mousse formula that is said to give your lips a “plush” feel, I couldn’t agree more. Now this is no matte liquid lipstick. It is far from that.

Though it is a creme finish, it does appear as a soft velvet-matte blanket over your lips. It is not drying at all, in fact my lips always remain soft and moisturized throughout wear. When you purse your lips together, they do not stick or feel tacky. Instead, a very comfortable mousse-powder like consistency is what you feel on your lips, and that is what I believe Makeup Geek is referring to as a “plush” effect. At its price point, and given how pleasant it feels on my lips as well as how satisfied I have always been with how it looks, I would definitely recommend Makeup Geek Plush Lip Creme, more so in the shade Jetsetter especially for those of you looking for a peach-brown based nude color.

The Makeup Geek Plush Lip Creme comes in eight other shades that include soft pink, reds and multiple tones of purples. VERDICT: Highly Recommended. A bit over a year ago, I did a review on my first Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick in the shade Pure Hollywood. Had a love-hate relationship with that particular shade.

It is a gorgeous nude once it has dried down but the process of applying the lipstick can be a pain. It goes on rather unevenly, and leaves visible streaks but somehow manages to become even after drying down. The finish was more tacky than I wanted it to be and it is neither long-wearing nor transfer-resistant.

Pure Hollywood was a part of the first series of liquid lipsticks released by ABH. In spring of last year, ABH released about seven new shades, mostly nudes.

I’ve decided to give this new batch a try, hoping for a better formulation, and I finally got to trying another nude that I’ve been eyeing since its release, the shade Stripped. (Image source: ) Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Stripped:. 20.00 USD for 0.11 fl oz. An intensely pigmented, full coverage matte lipstick. Delivers long-lasting, smear-resistant coverage Described as a neutral beige nude, this is how the shade Stripped looks on me: Review: Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Stripped: Hands down, this is one of the nicest warm nude shade I own.

I’ve always liked my Makeup Geek Plush Lip Creme in the shade Jetsetter, but wished that the shade was slightly lighter, more peach-based than brown-based and that it was a matte instead of a cream version. Then came Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Stripped – the very concoction I was envisioning. A warm peach shade, it seems to be the perfect nude for light to medium skin tone. It may appear more brownish on fair skin and a bit more chalky on very deep skin tones. However, the ABH liquid lipstick collection does have shades that are much lighter than Stripped, as well as colors way deeper than Stripped, but still in the nude range, therefore it wouldn’t be difficult to get your perfect nude from the brand. Formula-wise, this is definitely way easier to work with than Pure Hollywood. Though the color is lighter, it is not streaky at all upon application.

The consistency is also not too tacky, and dries down well. However, as with Pure Hollywood, Stripped also tends to settle in the cracks and crevices of your lips, though not as bad. I achieved the opacity above using only one coat. The product feels weightless on your lips and does not feel drying at all.

As for its long-wear and smear-resistant claim, Stripped performed reasonably well for four hours of wear without any meals, but started to appear patchy after food and after eight hours of wear. However, I did not touch up at all so the end result wasn’t something disappointing.

All in all, I am extremely pleased with the shade Stripped and how it performs. It is definitely a better buy than Pure Hollywood, but of course it depends on the nude shade that you want. If you’re looking for a neutral to cool toned pale mauve, Pure Hollywood’s for you. But if you want something like a neutral to warm toned beige with a better formula, Stripped is the way to go!

VERDICT: Highly Recommended. Move aside KKW/Kylie Cosmetics, and make way for Fenty Beauty, the talk of town! @badgalriri is coming through with her new cosmetics line, featuring a range of face products including foundation, powder and highlighters as well as face brushes and a lip gloss. Rihanna’s annoucement of Fenty Beauty has generated a buzz all over social media, and the reveal of the product lineup doesn’t appear to disappoint.

Recognizing a void in options (specifically for face makeup) for women who are at the ends of the shade spectrum, brand founder Rihanna makes it Fenty Beauty’s mission to serve the needs of women of all shade range, no matter if you have extremely pale or very, very deep complexion. Now all thanks to Sephora’s Rouge complimentary gift perk, I was fortunate enough to receive a deluxe sample of Fenty Beauty’s foundation. So I’ve decided to give it a go especially since most of my friends are talking about it as well and asking my two cents worth. And Fenty Beauty is now officially the first foundation to make its way into my Judge Judy product review series!

Ps: Let's Talk About The Shimmery Nude Color. Mariah Carey For Macbook

(Amen to taking a break from lipstick reviews) (Image source: ) Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. 34.00 USD for 1.08 fl. Oz. Medium to full coverage foundation that smooths skin and diffuses pores. Provides a soft matte, shine-free finish.

Light as air texture that is undetectable on skin. Oil-free longwear formula that is resistant to sweat and humidity. Won’t clog pores, for all skin types. Comes in 40 shades Since this is a foundation review, I think it’s just fair to do a before and after shot so you can better assess its coverage and finish. Therefore, I did my eyebrows and eye makeup first.

As usual for all foundations, I will do a standard skin prep specifically applying facial oil followed by sunscreen/primer. I never wear foundation on bare skin, so for foundation tests it would be fair for me to prep my skin as per how I would normally do it before applying any foundation. Left: No foundation, skin prepped with Paula’s Choice Resist Moisture Renewal Oil Booster and bareMinerals Prime Time Primer SPF 30. Right: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation in shade 210, topped with Lancome Teint Miracle Loose Powder, Marc Jacobs Tantric O!Mega Bronzer, Makeup Geek Blush in Cherish/Soulmate and Jouer Powder Highlighter in Rose Quartz. Review: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation.

Medium to full coverage foundation that smooths skin and diffuses pores If you’re looking for a solid medium to full coverage foundation, this product may well be in your lineup. One pump (from the smaller deluxe sized bottle) was all I used for my entire face to get a solid medium coverage, and you can see from the photos above that it covered up the blemishes on my chin and cheek well. This probably means the foundation can last you quite a while, in fact I am positive I can get about twenty uses from my deluxe bottle. Does this foundation minimize the look of pores? I wouldn’t say that it does that exceptionally well because I feel that my pores look similar if I had worn my Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation.

So I wouldn’t say that diffusing pores is a selling point for this foundation, but yes, it does impart a decent blurring effect on skin as with a few other foundations. Provides a soft matte, shine-free finish Now I’ve gotta be honest and say that I am not a fan of a true matte finish foundation. I’ve always preferred my foundations to render some dewiness as I find a matte finish to be chalky at times. This foundation however gives almost a velvet-matte type of finish so your complexion does not look flat and dull as with more true matte foundation. But if you want your skin to glow from your foundation, this shine-free finish is definitely not your cup of tea.

If you have dry skin, make sure to moisturize your skin well prior to applying this foundation as it might accentuate dry patches. Light as air texture that is undetectable on skin While I would agree that the foundation feels lightweight on the skin, I wouldn’t go as far as to say to that it is imperceptible.

Especially if you’re one to apply a few pumps of foundation and prefer a full coverage, this will definitely show up on skin. Oil-free longwear formula that is resistant to sweat and humidity Unfortunately, neither did I sweat nor was the weather humid for me to test this claim but for the six hours worth of wear I experienced, the foundation did not stay on that well. At the three-hour mark, I noticed the foundation starting to slightly break apart on my chin area. By the end of the six-hour wear the foundation started to look a little patchy. I guess it might be due to the fact that my skin was feeling a little dry, but then again I have no such problems with my Armani Luminous Silk. So, it’s a no for me on the longwear claim.

Won’t clog pores, for all skin types Based on the ingredients list, I believe that this foundation does not contain any skin irritants or aggravating/inflammatory ingredients therefore it highly likely will not clog your pores and should be suitable for most skin types. One very important thing to note about this foundation though is that it dries SUPER fast. You better work your face section by section and not apply dots of foundation on your entire face before blending for that was what I did and suffered adverse consequences. The foundation dried up too quickly such that the dots of foundation that I blended last left a circle mark on my face and I had to use my finger to aggressively remove. In addition, I highly believe that this foundation applies well with a brush and a buffing motion, not a damp sponge and a dabbing or stippling technique. The finish was very patchy using a sponge, but I managed to even it out eventually using my fingers and brush.

    Let

I’d have to be honest and say that I have not experienced such a problem with other matte finish foundations (e.g. Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Longwear) so I was quite taken aback that this foundation wasn’t a breeze to work with. So, would I go ahead and purchase the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation?

I would have to say no for now because I don’t think the texture and finish of the foundation works well on my skin at the moment. And I prefer applying my foundations with my beauty blender, so if I’d have to switch to brushes only for this foundation, I may have to give it a pass. But for what it’s worth, the foundation does photograph beautifully and feels very comfortable on the skin, and its price point of 34.00 USD is not half bad. And the extensive shade range means you should be able to find your perfect match (thought I’d have to point out that the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation also has forty shades). I would suggest trying out a sample from Sephora if you are on the fence about this. As for me, I’d pass and just continue using my existing foundations.

VERDICT: Recommended with Care. NYX has been one of my favorite drugstore brands. Not only are their products affordable, the quality is often times impressive. NYX’s lip lingerie liquid lipsticks and soft matte lip creams are amongst my most used lip products, and I am of course thrilled to give their matte lipsticks a whirl. Housed in a conventional bullet lipstick packaging, the NYX matte lipsticks come in a stunning array of 45 shades. As always before we dive into my review, here are key things you need to know about the NYX matte lipsticks. (Image source: ) NYX Matte Lipstick.

5.99 USD for 0.16 oz. Highly pigmented lipstick with a velvety non-glossy, silky matte finish. Stays in place and never feels dry Left: Described as a mid-tone beige, this is how the shade Sable looks on me. Middle: Described as a dark pink-brown, this is how the shade Euro Trash looks on me. Right: Described as a bright blue-toned red, this is how the shade Perfect Red looks on me. Review: NYX Matte Lipstick. 5.99 USD for 0.16 oz.

Highly pigmented lipstick with a velvety non-glossy, silky matte finish. Stays in place and never feels dry Good matte lipsticks that come in the typical bullet packaging are a rare find especially in the drugstore. They’re more often than not semi-matte and has poor lasting power. Unfortunately, the NYX matte lipstick similarly falls in that category.

The finish of the lipsticks is semi-matte at best, but specifically are more of a satin matte for the shades Sable and Euro Trash and an almost cream finish for the shade Perfect Red. There is an obvious cream sheen upon application and they do not dry down matte. A way to mattify these lipsticks is to press your lips into a tissue paper to minimize the sheen.

This however compromises the pigmentation. Despite the non-matte finish, the opacity of the NYX matte lipstick is quite commendable. You can definitely build up the color and coverage for intense pigmentation. It wasn’t a one-swipe action for me though as the lighter color especially tends to settle into cracks and crevices upon first application and needs a few more coats to reach full opacity. Another thing I noted was how uncomfortable it was for me to maneuver the lipstick.

I am not sure if it is the design of the lipstick itself or the packaging that requires me to bend and turn my hands in weird angles to fill up my lips. As for its longevity, I would say that the shade Perfect Red, though transfers easily, stays pigmented for quite a while. As with other red lipsticks, it does leave a pink stain. Sable and Euro Trash held up quite decently, though a heavy meal can definitely reduce its staying power.

    Ps: let

Despite its shortcomings in its finish, the NYX matte lipstick is overall a very comfortable product to wear. It is rather lightweight and does not feel drying at all.

For the price tag, this product is definitely a must-have if you are looking for affordable matte lipsticks but not too picky about an ultra-matte finish. VERDICT: Recommended.

I’m pretty excited for today’s sharing. It’s something I’ve never done before, but I thought could be helpful for my friends or anyone out there who’s always looking for more affordable alternatives to amazing high end products. It all started when I was tidying up my vanity and looking through my eyeshadow palettes. I happened to pick up my beloved Modern Renaissance (Anastasia Beverly Hills) and comparing it with my Cocoa Blend (ZOEVA). And it just dawned on me how similar some of the shadows are. So I thought why not put both products to the test and see which performs better. Wow, I can’t believe it’s actually been a hot minute there since I last did a liquid lipstick review.

But I’m back with another lip product! It’s one that I’ve owned for quite a while but never really got to using it much. But for the sake of this review, I did wear the lipstick over a few days to see how it performs under varying circumstances.

So without further ado, let me introduce you to the product of the day, from Tarte Cosmetics – the Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in the shade Tbt. (Image source: ) Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Tbt:. 20.00 USD for 0.20 fl oz. Lightweight, moussey texture with a non-drying finish. Provides a sophisticated, velvet matte finish. Full coverage, long-wearing liquid lipstick Described as a mauve, this is how the shade Tbt looks on me: Review: Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Tbt:. Lightweight, moussey texture with a non-drying finish When I first applied this lipstick, the moussey texture truly came through.

It doesn’t feel liquidy like the Huda Beauty liquid lipstick, nor is it a creamy consistency like the Kat Von D one. It literally feels like mousse, almost whipped like; therefore it is airy and feels lightweight. After the product settles down, your lips don’t feel dry like how the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipstick made mine feel. In fact, it has that kind of weightless property to it that makes lips feel comfortable. Provides a sophisticated, velvet matte finish I don’t know exactly what Tarte means when they use the adjective sophisticated to describe the finish, but if I were to guess, then I would associate it with the fact that the finish is consistent throughout your entire lips.

It’s neither patchy nor streaky (I can’t say the same for other colors though unless I’ve tried them) and it does give off a velvet matte finish. Full coverage, long-wearing liquid lipstick I wouldn’t say that only one swipe is what it takes to attain full coverage. I had to dip in for at least a second time before the coverage became quite opaque.

However if I were to compare the opacity with the Kat Von D liquid lipstick in Double Dare (cocoa blush color), I would say the latter is definitely much more full coverage. The latter really blurred the lines on my lips, but with the Tarte one, those lines are still quite visible as you can see in the photo above. As to its claim of being long-wearing, the longest I had this on my lips was for eight hours. In that time, I had a meal twice, and touched up once after the first meal. The lipstick did fade a little after my first meal, but it was a consistent fade throughout the entire lips rather than only in the center or the edges. Re-applying the product wasn’t too bad as it still felt lightweight and looked decent. At the end of the day, the lipstick didn’t look the best though.

It’s opacity diminished, and my original lip color was starting to peek through. But I guess you’d expect that after a long wear. However, if you’re one who doesn’t touch up your lipstick, and wants a product that really stays on your lips no matter what, then the Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Tbtisn’t your best bet. Would I re-purchase this lipstick? I wouldn’t buy the shade Tbt again.

I was actually pretty disappointed that the color described as a mauve looked more like a coffee rose or a chestnut rose on me. It wasn’t exactly the kind of mauve that I was expecting. But I wouldn’t be opposed to trying other colors from the range. It’s not a bad formula, but it isn’t the best either. So if you’re really interested, no harm giving it a try. You might end up loving it!
